GAZA, (PIC)-- The Movement of Hamas stated Wednesday that Mahmoud Abbas is very keen on controlling the Palestinian arena, clinging to power and carrying out Zio-American projects detrimental to the Palestinian people’s rights.
In a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC), Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum accused Abbas of lying about his intention not to run for election, saying if Abbas was sincere in that, he would not have five positions including the presidency of the Palestinian Authority (PA), Fatah and the Palestine liberation organization (PLO).
Spokesman Barhoum underlined that Abbas is insistent on eradicating the Palestinian resistance and his political opponents, and staying loyal to the so called peace process, although the American administration and Israel turned their backs to him and backtracked on promises they had made during a tripartite meeting in the US regarding settlement expansion.
For his part, Dr. Aziz Dweik, the speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), stated Wednesday that the Zio-American pressures on the PA obstruct the achievement of national reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah.
In a press statement to Al-Risalah net, Dr. Dweik said that Fatah faction would never find an ally better than Hamas to help it in confronting the challenges besetting the Palestinian cause.
The speaker noted that he prepared a new initiative to end the internal division and achieve national reconciliation which witnessed a setback last month.
For his part, Hamas lawmaker Hatem Kufaisheh stated Wednesday that there are known parties working on undermining the Palestinian national project with the blessing of the US and the international quartet.
Kufaisheh stressed in a press release that holding elections at this time would only satisfy the enemies of the Palestinian people and would be like an irrevocable divorce between Gaza and the West Bank.
He warned that holding elections in light of this situation and without reconciliation would get the Palestinian cause into a state of political limbo even the coming generations would not be able to get rid of it.
