OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Israeli barristers' syndicate has issued a report on Monday, revealing that there were a number of Palestinian political prisoners who spent many years in solitary confinement in Israeli jails without being charged or brought to courts.
The report also monitored the bad conditions of the Israeli jails, and the sharp shortage in medical services that put lives of captives at risk, and resulted in the death of a number of them.
In addition, the report focused on the maltreatment of the Palestinian prisoners at the hands of the Israeli Nahshon unit, which is in charge of transferring prisoners from one jail to another.
According to the report, seven Palestinian political prisoners were thrown into the darkness of the solitary confinement at the Israeli Ayalon prison without knowing the charges against them, adding that those prisoners weren’t classified as administrative detainees nor they were charged with any criminal charges.
The report considered those Israeli practices as "flagrant violation of international conventions", citing the case of Palestinian captive Mahmoud Az'an who was kidnapped 10 years ago but no charges were filed against him yet.
Moreover, the report accused the Israeli prison authority (IPA) of deliberate medical neglect that, according to the report, explains the sharp increase in the number of the prisoners who died in jail as a result of that neglect, pointing out that sick prisoners have to wait for long time till he could be attended to and treated.
Furthermore, the report quoted a number of complaints filed by the prisoners against elements of the Nahshon unit accusing them of unleashing police dogs to attack them, in addition to insulting and humiliating them.
Palestinian records revealed that more than 129 Palestinian prisoners had perished in Israeli jails as a result of medical neglect on the part of the IPA.
