Health ministry: Gaza on the brink of medical collapse
[ 26/12/2007 - 11:25 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- The health ministry in the PA caretaker government has warned that the health situation in the Gaza Strip was on the brink of collapse and added that the number of deaths due to serious diseases would double in the few coming days.

Khaled Radi, the spokesman of the ministry, said in a press interview on Tuesday that the number of patients who died due to the siege (that reached 50 victims) would double in the coming days as more than one thousand patients were suffering chronic diseases and were banned from travel abroad for treatment.

He said that all hospitals in the Strip suffer from acute shortage in medicines, explaining that 69 types of medications were out of stock while 130 others are expected to follow within three months or less.

The fuel in Gaza hospitals barely meets the daily needs, Radi said, adding that the whole health conditions were in need of urgent rehabilitation.

He expressed pessimism over the future of health situation in the Strip in the light of the continued Israeli siege and the Arab and international silence.

He said that the main problem is Israeli occupation that besieges the Strip and the illegal PA government in Ramallah while in the end patients are the victims of such a situation. "This is why we call for keeping the health sector aloof from political wrangling," Radi elaborated.

He said that improving the health situation starts with opening the crossings and allowing patients to travel for treatment, warning of a serious "catastrophe" if the situation remained as is.

Collective stupidity deserves no less than collective punishment by all means available. Palistine was defeated in a war that they started, Until they acknowledge that defeat and except the consequences of their actions, They will continue to suffer the ravages of war. War is NEVER about right or wrong, It is survival of the fittest.
Interesting logic!

Interesting logic from Robert Killan, let us put this logic to the test: Jewish leaders declared a trade war against Germany, that would qualify as (collective stupidity) would it not? And the Nazis responded by committing the Holocaust against vulnerable Jews (collective punishment), and WAR is never about RIGHT or WRONG, it is about survival of the fittest; perfect Nazi ideology. Thank you Mr. Killan for demonstrating that Zionism=Nazism.

I dont view it as collective stupidity I view it as ethnic cleansing on the part of isreal since it was formed as a country they have done nothing but rape murder, pillage and steal from the arab inhabitants of what is now isreal and palestinian lands. who is worse nazi germany or isreal I dont know its a toss up. both have committed crimes agains humanity the only difference so far is that germany was punished and the world looks on with an indifferent attitude. does that make the rest of the world guilty of being inhumane? I think so
