DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk, the deputy head of Hamas political bureau, has affirmed that the next stage that will follow the Annapolis conference will witness an escalation in resistance against the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as the conference will expose the destructive results on the national cause.
In an exclusive statement to the PIC, Dr Abu Marzouk called on Friday on the Palestinian people all over the world to go on mass marches and to organize rallies and activities in order to express their rejection of the Annapolis conference and to confirm their adherence to the inalienable national rights.
The Hamas leader explained that there are two main goals behind the Annapolis conference; the first goal is to support Israeli premier Ehud Olmert after his defeat in South Lebanon and the second is to cover up for the intended American war against Iran, which requires Arab cooperation or silence towards this new American assault on the region.
The Hamas leader also underlined that Olmert will give nothing significant to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas during negotiations.
He said in this regard: "Olmert can not make any step regarding the final status arrangements like the Palestinian state, Jerusalem, settlements and Palestinian refugees because Olmert is a weak person and lacks charisma; besides, the partisan coalition he leads is fragile and everyone inside this fragile body is striving for prime ministry."
The Hamas leader expressed his strong belief that Olmert is one of the Zionist leaders who see that the only solution to the conflict is through eradicating the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip or through evicting them from their land along the lines of what happened in 1948.
The Hamas leader also pointed out that while Abbas was meeting with Olmert and smiling before the cameras of journalists, the IOF troops were carrying out aggressions against the West Bank and Gaza Strip, confiscating more lands to expand Israeli settlement outposts and the apartheid wall in the vicinity of occupied Jerusalem and conducting excavations under the Aqsa mosque.
The Hamas leader called on the Palestinian people to oppose the Annapolis conference, expressing his belief that the popular conference due to be held in Gaza will send a letter confirming the Palestinian people's adherence to their national rights and constants that these rights can never be forgotten by prescription as a result of holding conferences here and there.
