GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian Health Information Center (PHIC) of the Palestinian Ministry of Health stated in its report that 278 Palestinians were killed during 2012, mostly during the last Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The report revealed that the total number of martyrs, officially registered with the Ministry of Health during 2012, reached 278 martyrs, including 189 martyrs who were killed during the recent Israeli brutal war on Gaza.
The report pointed out that the total number of martyrs included 251 male martyrs and 27 female martyrs, of whom 13 females over 18 years, in addition to 18 martyrs less than five years.
The report stated that the total wounded numbered 2158 wounded including 1641 males and 517 females, noting that 1526 were wounded during the eight-day war.
The report also noted that 322 were female injuries over 18 years, pointing out to the 212 injuries less than five years.
For his part, Dr. Ashraf Qudra, spokesman for the Palestinian Health Ministry, stated that the number of martyrs has increased compared with 2011, where 114 Palestinians were killed, including 13 ladies and 13 children due to the Israeli escalation against the Gaza strip and targeting the unarmed citizens in their homes by warplanes.
The ministry spokesman also noted that 2 of medical staff were among the martyrs in addition to 5 injuries.
The report also pointed out that 10 health centers were targeted by the Israeli aircraft including 4 hospitals, a primary care center, and the Central Archive of the Ministry and the Department of Medical Commission in Abu Khadra governmental complex.
