GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Sa'eed Siyam, the former PA interior minister, has revealed that the security apparatuses in the Gaza Strip had foiled an attempt to assassinate Ismail Haneyya, the premier of the PA caretaker government.

Siyam, addressing a press conference in his house on Saturday, said that the security elements arrested a suicide bomber who was planning to blast himself in the Friday congregation (18/1) attended by Haneyya.

He charged that a man named Ahmed Mansour, currently living in Egypt, and another called Zafer Mahmoud, who is currently living in Ramallah, were the masterminds of the plot.

During the conference a videotape was screened displaying the suicide bomber while reciting his will.

Siyam said that the results of the investigation would be tabled with a number of Arab and Islamic countries, the Palestinian factions and other concerned parties.
