GAZA, (PIC)-- The Hamas Movement on Thursday said that Fatah faction did not respond positively to the efforts made to end the political detention file and always tried to evade its responsibility in this regard.
In a press statement received by the PIC, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum explained that the Fatah talk about its approval to release 20 political prisoners and on the same day its security apparatuses kidnapped more than this number and its reluctance to promise to end the detention file proved that Fatah still pursues the revolving door policy to mislead the public opinion.
Spokesman Barhoum called on Egypt, in its capacity as the sponsor of the national dialog, to use stronger language to pressure Fatah to end all forms of political detention.
In the context of political arrest campaigns carried out persistently by the PA security apparatuses, 23 Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas were kidnapped on Wednesday in different West Bank areas while a new political prisoner was reportedly transferred to hospital.
The abductees included member of the municipal council in Nablus Ghassan Al-Johari who was rounded up during a raid on his office in the city. Three ex-detainees and three students were also among the 23 citizens kidnapped by the PA security apparatuses.
Informed Palestinian sources said that political prisoner Iyad Shihab from Tulkarem was transferred to hospital in a serious condition as a result of his exposure to severe torture in PA jails.
