GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil, the spokesman for the Hamas parliamentary bloc, stated Wednesday that the continuity and progress of meetings with Fatah is aimed at creating a state of social peace as a prelude to achieving a state of national harmony leding to agreement on the political agenda of the next Palestinian government.
In a joint news conference with senior Fatah leader Abdullah Al-Efranji, Dr. Bardawil stressed the need for holding meetings between the Palestinian rivals to discuss all outstanding issues in order to resolve them and reach a formula to deal with these issues on the ground.
The Hamas bloc spokesman hailed the meeting with Fatah delegation as good and fruitful, pointing out that such meetings are not a substitute for Cairo talks, but a catalyst for the success of the national dialog.
The spokesman rejected the description of the national dialog as unsuccessful, saying that the dialog achieved a certain percentage of success and there are some outstanding issues that would be resolved through meetings.
For his part, Efranji said that the two sides talked openly and frankly to each other and showed keenness on achieving national unity.
He added that Fatah and Hamas found out that there is no choice but to restore national unity in order to confront the Israeli fierce attack on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
