GAZA, (PIC)-- A Palestinian child, who was born almost two weeks ago with a hole in the heart, has been denied an Israeli permit to leave the Strip and receive urgently needed treatment for his case, medical sources reported.
They said that the baby's condition was worsening as he is suffering problems in the liver and swelling in his body.
The doctor following the case of the baby at the European hospital explained his condition to a delegation of the popular committee against the siege headed by MP Jamal Al-Khudari, stressing that the child was in need of an urgent surgery before it was too late.
The MP appealed to legal organizations, human rights institutions and foreign sympathizers to pressure the IOA to save the little child.
He questioned, "What is the crime committed by this baby, why should he bear all this exhaustion and pain. His heart is still very small and he knows nothing about politics and mass punishment. He awaits sympathy from all".
Death of 34th victim of siege:
Meanwhile, medical sources announced on Monday the death of 59-year-old Fatima Abdul Al from heart problems after she was denied permission by the IOA to get out of the Strip to receive treatment abroad.
The sources said that Fatima's death brought to 34 the number of victims of the six-month-old IOA siege on the Strip.
The sources recalled that on Sunday three Palestinian patients including a 13-month-old toddler were pronounced dead after failure to cross the tightly closed crossings surrounding the Strip by the IOF troops.
They renewed reminding the international community that 450 patients were suffering cancer, 400 kidney failure and 449 heart disease in the Gaza Strip and were in need of urgent treatment abroad due to lack of proper medication in the tightly besieged Strip.
