CAIRO, (PIC)-- Khaled Mishaal, the head of Hamas political bureau, said Monday that Omar Suleiman, the Egyptian intelligence director, told the Palestinian factions that he would embark in the coming days on formulating a final draft of reconciliation.
Mishaal told a news conference held in Cairo that this reconciliation draft will be submitted to the Palestinian factions in October before they attend the national meeting to be held in Cairo.
The Hamas leader underlined that the new Egyptian overture prompted the Palestinian factions to use it as a platform for reconciliation and to deal with it positively, so they can address all contentious issues with Fatah.
Commenting on the attempt to storm the Aqsa Mosque, the leader said that what happened on Sunday in Jerusalem gave the Palestinian factions the determination to achieve the national reconciliation in order to pay more attention to the Israeli occupation and how to extract the Palestinian usurped rights from it.
He pointed out that there was a consensus on various issues between the Palestinian factions and the next round of the national dialog would only address some details.
A press release issued by Hamas on Monday affirmed that the flexibility demonstrated by its leadership in Cairo did not mean in any way that Hamas gave up its priority represented in the release of all political prisoners from Fatah jails in the West Bank.
Commenting on the kidnapping of Hamas official Abdelbasset Al-Haj who was released from Israeli jails few days ago, Hamas said that the resumption of kidnapping campaigns in the West Bank with arrival of its delegation to Cairo is real evidence that there are those within Fatah who reject reconciliation.
The press release noted that the presence of such divisive parties inside Fatah would hamper all efforts to end the division regardless of the unprecedented flexibility shown by Hamas leadership during the national dialog.
