Awad: Israel insists on retaining Gaza under pressure
[ 12/12/2011 - 05:31 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian foreign minister Mohammed Awad has charged that the escalating Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip fell in line with a policy of keeping it under constant pressure.

He said in a press conference on Monday that the Israeli ministers’ daily statements explain the nature of Israel’s policy toward Gaza mainly to exhaust the Strip through relentless attacks, killing, and destruction.

Awad said that his government was concerned with the return of the Israeli occupation’s policy of assassination and targeting citizens in heavily crowded areas indicating a deliberate attempt to inflict the biggest possible human and material losses.

He underlined that the Israeli occupation forces were adamant on retaining Gaza under constant attack despite his government’s keenness on maintaining calm.

The minister stressed the importance of prevailing calm, but added that all forms of attacks on Gaza must come to a halt. He urged the world community to assume an effective role in bridling the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
