Qurei and Livni resume their talks in Jerusalem
[ 28/05/2008 - 08:47 AM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Hebrew media sources reported that PA negotiator Ahmed Qurei and Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni met Tuesday evening in occupied Jerusalem to resume their talks about outstanding issues between the two sides, adding that negotiation teams from both parties participated in the meeting.

Israeli premier Ehud Olmert had stated Monday that the international support for a two-state solution started to decline gradually and the international community now inclines to support a solution of one state.

Olmert added that he was one of those who believed that the option of one state for both Palestinians and Israelis was wrong.

In another context, the Hebrew radio quoted Tuesday Israeli security sources as saying that the PA security apparatuses met with their Israeli counterparts at the headquarters of the civil committee in Ramallah, central West Bank.

The meeting was held in the presence of US coordinator Keith Dayton who followed up the accomplishments of the PA security apparatuses against the Palestinian resistance factions especially Hamas, according to the radio.

Some of the security achievements discussed during the meeting were the closing of charities, orphanages and different service institutions affiliated with Hamas as well as the campaigns of arrests and pursuits waged against Palestinian resistance fighters in the West Bank.

The PA security apparatuses in coordination with the Israeli side have kidnapped since mid-2007 hundreds of Hamas cadres and tortured many of them in its jails in the West Bank.
