Erdogan: No result for Abbas's negotiations without Hamas
[ 11/03/2010 - 01:53 PM ]

RIYADH, (PIC)-- Turkish premier Recep Erdogan has affirmed that (former) PA chief Mahmoud Abbas's negotiations with Israel would not succeed as long as Hamas was not included in the process.

Erdogan, who was visiting Saudi Arabia, told Al-Quds newspaper published on Wednesday that Hamas should be included in any negotiations between Abbas and Israel.

He added that he was in agreement with the international quartet's envoy Tony Blair in this respect. Blair said that any meeting without participation of Hamas would not yield any result.

The Turkish premier also urged the world community to pressure Israel not to annex Islamic holy shrines to Jewish heritage, describing the Israeli measure as "provocative".

He also said that a permanent solution to the Palestine question should be reached in order to lay down basis for stability in the region.
