Study: Israelis seized 86 per cent of east Jerusalem

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli authorities have seized 86 per cent of the land area in east Jerusalem, imposing a fait accompli that is unchangeable by the "peace process"  , a Palestinian researcher said in a report released Wednesday.

Jerusalem's political future has become governed by Jewish settlements and the apartheid wall, said Jihad Abu Tawila in a study dubbed "The City of Jerusalem: Study of the regional conflict and settlement proposals".

Official solutions - Arab solutions included - are based on the US position concerning the Israeli occupation and Jewish settlements, the study underlines, adding that the "salvage whatever Arab rights that can be salvaged" policy is a "failed model" not bringing about any results on the ground.

The study offered that responding to Israeli settlement projects would require a developmental strategy to preserve the holy sites without compromising any Islamic or Palestinian rights.

The door must be open for multiple options to change the regional and international balance of power in order to force the Israelis to pull out, Abu Tawila said.
